e-bikes, electric skateboards, microcars, e-submarines, etc.
My first ride was a skateboard. I would ride that skateboard everywhere I could, which meant the entire area of our front porch.
Next I had a bike that I did ride everywhere, including 2 miles to work. This was in the days before e-bikes. It was definitely in the days before electric skateboards. Around this same time, I also had a pair of stilts. They were for the family, but I was the only one who used them. I walked on those stilts quite often. They were wooden with no padding on the bottom, so I made a lot of noise as I went around the neighborhood. That meant everybody came out to see. Well, they came out to see the first time. Thank goodness noone has invented electric stilts yet.
My wife and I recently went carless. We were moving to Hawaii. And the price to ship a car here had just skyrocketed. No, no electric rockets yet either. So, we sold both of them, including the Electric Leaf and opted instead to ride the bus. Now, we&';re within walking distance of most things, so we mostly walk. It&';s ok for me to go without a car. I can heft the groceries around, no problem. My wife isn&';t that strong. So, I started looking into small electric cars. Turns out the Leaf is one of the smallest. Chevy Bolt is a little smaller. But, come on! I was looking for something smaller than a Smart Car.
While I was at it, I decided to investigate electric skateboards and electric bikes. All that investigating turned into my latest book - #112.
Personal Electric Vehicles are just that &n-; they&';re electric and personal. Personal means that they&';re small and for one or two people. I call them IEVs. EV stands for Electric Vehicle. I? That&';s You! An IEV is what you would be if you could transform yourself into a Personal Electric Vehicle. This book covers various types of boards and cycles. It covers microcars and microtrucks. I&*';ve included snowmobiles, warehouse vehicles, and farm equipment. ATV&';s, yep, they&';re in there too. Not to mention water and air craft.
